Dialectic Method Spanish is built around generative AI. We believe in being explicit about what the AI does, what it does not do, and where its limits lie.
What the AI does
- Generates the interlocutor's spoken responses across the six dialectic stages (Proposition → Reflection).
- Adapts to your zone of proximal development, adjusting difficulty toward CEFR / ACTFL goals.
- Produces rubric-formatted feedback on range, accuracy, fluency, interaction, and coherence.
- Estimates your CEFR level and ACTFL task success from the transcript. These are estimates, not certifications.
What the AI does not do
- It does not issue official language certifications.
- It does not provide legal, medical, financial, or psychological advice, even when topics brush against those areas.
- It is not, and does not replace, a human teacher.
Models and providers
We route AI traffic through enterprise gateways to leading model providers (e.g., Google Gemini, OpenAI GPT). Provider contracts prohibit training their general-purpose models on your content. The specific model selection may evolve as quality and safety improve.
Voice and speech
Speech recognition uses the voice engine built into your browser when available. Synthesized voice uses your device's text-to-speech engine; premium server-side voices may be introduced in the future, which will be communicated before activation.
Limitations and bias
Large language models can produce inaccurate, inconsistent, or culturally biased framing, especially on controversial philosophical, political, and ethical topics. Treat AI responses as an argumentative partner, not absolute truth.
Human oversight
Pedagogical design, rubrics, scaffolding logic, and topic selection are designed and maintained by people. We monitor aggregate quality signals and welcome your feedback at feedback@dialecticmethod-spanish.com.
